Summary of the project

Letecké opravovne Trenčín, a.s., is a company founded in 1949 for the purpose of repairing aviation, ground airport equipment and air defence equipment.

The maintenance and servicing of aeronautical equipment involves processes in which there is no room for error in the procedures or materials used. An important process that needed to be covered was the area of findings for maintenance, which follows prescribed documentation, e.g. aircraft overhaul. The findings process is then linked to the findings addendum processes, which take into account the labour and material requirements for additional inspections of the equipment. The ideal solution in this case is the combination and cooperation of two products, SOFTIP MONACO and SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS.

Challenges and requirements

The customer used information systems from different manufacturers. As a result, several data were entered into the systems in duplicate. In addition, the application for the technological preparation of service procedures and the production of spare parts was not linked to the service application. The selection of the supplier of the information system was the responsibility of an external consultancy company, which prepared extensive documentation of requirements and processes, followed by a process of presentation of solutions and selection of the supplier. SOFTIP was selected.

Main requirements:

  • Replace IS from different vendors with a complete integrated solution,
  • in addition to the production documentation, to ensure that the so-called repair documentation, which was recorded in the form of text editors, was also recorded,
  • to cover the process of findings and additions to findings in the field of aviation maintenance,
  • ensure automatic scheduling of spare parts production required for maintenance of aircraft,
  • Online support for the supply department, with a view of the cumulative ordering needs and their detailed breakdowns into sources of requirements and orders,
  • tracking of all materials and manufactured spare parts by batch and expiry date
  • approval of documentation in the common system for SOFTIP MONACO, logistics and production processes in SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS,
  • tracking material flows by quality, input control and storage locations,
  • incorporation of the dispatching process into the material supply of maintenance and production
  • , contract evaluation in the economic part of the information system,
  • CRM module for business offer processing.

Results and benefits

  • records, finding processes and their additions have been completed in the VYR2 application,
  • In terms of production and maintenance orders, two processes are followed,
  • the connection to the application has been extended to the CRM, order registration and approval area,
  • issued order documents, internal orders are approved in the SOFTIP MONACO environment,
  • the process of creating material items is a two-step process, where first a request for inclusion of an item is created in SOFTIP MONACO, followed by its processing and assignment of nomenclature in SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS,
  • the authorization and subsequent process of dispensing materials for orders takes place in the new „Dispatching“ register,
  • when dispensing material from stock, each material is labelled with the item, order, batch and expiry date,
  • all material intake goes through a systematic input control,
  • a new costing system for spare parts production has been developed, where all costs are added up just before they are sent to the warehouse,
  • New algorithms have been incorporated for work-in-progress accounting to take into account the needs of maintenance and production accounting,
  • A new UMA web application has been created for asset maintenance.

During the implementation of the project in LOTN we have gained new knowledge in the field of aviation maintenance. We have developed a number of new records and functionalities, we have significantly expanded the integration of SOFTIP MONACO and SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS processes.
