SOFTIP is the manufacturer of its own successful product SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS, which has been on the market for more than 20 years. Last year you discontinued support for IS SOFTIP PACKET. Are you planning something new?
Yeah. In line with market trends and requirements, we have prepared a technological innovation of our ERP system SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS in version 11.
What does this technological innovation mean?
Version 11 is an upgrade at the level of architecture and technology. The main technological change is the transition from a two-layer to a three-layer architecture. We have prepared the application server and are modifying the applications to use it to communicate with the database. This will open up wider and faster possibilities for further development.
What should your customers know about the upcoming release?
From a user perspective, SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS version 11 maintains the existing functionality, user interface and data model and is backward compatible like all previous versions.
It works on the principle of multilayer architecture CLIENT - APPLICATION SERVER - WEB SERVER - DATABASE SERVER based on REST architectural style.
This architecture and technology will enable the acceleration of the development cycle of new web applications that can run in parallel with existing client-desktop applications over the same data. It will further enhance security with multi-factor authentication (MFA) capabilities and make APIs available to third parties.
What does this mean for you as a producer?
Important benefits for us as a vendor are more efficient distribution of new versions, maintenance of published services and bug fixing. The development cycle of new applications will be accelerated. In the future, we plan to provide our comprehensive ecosystem of ERP applications with multi-platform, technology independence, performance scaling and high availability of running services.
How does a customer get to the SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS 11 version?
By simply installing the new version of PROFIT. It is not an implementation of a new ERP. Thus, despite the major technological change, they will not feel any extra demands on support or internal capacity. Of course, a modern system also has its technological requirements that must be met. The updated technical specifications have been available on our website for several weeks.
Who will be affected by the change?
All our customers with the SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS system. Therefore, in the first step, we will approach them gradually in order to plan a joint procedure. Each customer will be able to choose whether to carry out the readiness check for the new version and the possible technical upgrade on their own or to contact us.
The second step will be the delivery of a new version of SOFTIP PROFIT PLUS 11 without changes to the control and functionality of the applications, which will include an application server.
In the next versions we will implement web clients, redesign of appearance and the whole UX.
When can customers expect the new version to arrive?
We anticipate that this could be as early as 2023. We are currently working on pilot installations.
Have you had any feedback yet?
In parallel, test operation is underway at several pilot customers, among the best known is the Slovak University of Health Sciences in Bratislava. We are receiving positive feedback from the pilot installations, so we expect to start distributing version 11 on a wider scale later this year, so that it will be available to all of our customers in the near future.
