SOFTIPÁCKA BLOOD DONATION once again attracted regular and new donors

In four years, the SOFTIPácka Blood Drop event has managed to attract almost two hundred donors, one in five of whom was a first-time donor. In total, the ranks of voluntary blood donors were expanded by 37 new members. This is the most important result of the event, which SOFTIP, in cooperation with the National Transfusion Service of the Slovak Republic (NTS SR) and other partners, tries to motivate not only its employees, but also the public to selflessly help people who are in need of it.

„Each healthy person can donate up to 450 ml of the most precious liquid at a time. So, since this tradition began, it's been tens of litres of blood that we've managed to get to where it's needed most. The important thing is just to overcome the initial fears,“ said Martin Vlčko, CFO and member of the Board of Directors of SOFTIP. „We are pleased that we managed to involve not only our own colleagues, but also employees of partner companies and visitors of the Banská Bystrica shopping centre. It proves that we can still spontaneously help each other.“

And this is important - because as Ingrid Škropeková from the civic association Svetielko hope pointed out, one person can save up to three lives in this way. „Of course, this is a very approximate calculation because the blood is divided into other components after it is drawn. However, this does not change the fact that it is the most precious and irreplaceable fluid.“ Light of Hope helps children with cancer or other serious illnesses. „Children often need blood transfusions repeatedly during treatment for various medical reasons. This is where regular blood donors can help, and we thank them and hope that others will join them. “

The event traditionally takes place at the turn of October and November. This year 43 donors signed up and 33 people were able to provide their blood for the needs of the NTS SR. Six of them did so for the first time. „I hope that they will become regular donors. No matter what their motivation is, mine has been the great feeling of being able to help someone I don't know at all,“ explained Miroslav Štrba, one of the participants of the event - the main organizer of the Marathon BB Tour.

SOFTIPAC supported the blood drop: National Transfusion Service of the Slovak Republic, Europa Business Center, Europa SC, Datalan, o.z. Svetielko nádeje, Subway Banská Bystrica, and Terno. A new feature of the fourth year was the possibility to use the Electronic donor card, the NTS SR mobile application, where every blood donor can find, in addition to general information on blood donation, individual data on their blood group, recent donations, blood count results and an overview of awards. The app will also automatically remind them of the next possible donation date.
